You don't have to make it everyone's business if you would like to meet someone. We have singles-only events on this site, but all social events are a great way to meet others.
So, what are the differences between dating and singles dining and stand-ups?
Social groups are not intense or accelerated. There’s almost no profile to complete or rely on, and no need for messaging before you meet. Everything is conducted face to face. Whether you attend a singles-only event or a social group, there's no pressure on you, no agenda of rejection and no need to 'perform'. Instead, members build up an authentic impression of other people when they get together.
There are other advantages too. There’s someone in charge and it’s an exclusive group. In other words, other people can’t just get a place, not without the organizer's invite. Members meet in a public place and as a group, Finally, you can go with a buddy, and because members are paying a small subscription, they can't be anonymous. If membership were free, we'd be compromising this safety feature.
Some organisers are ordinary members and only ask other members to cover their costs whn the bill arrives. Others are professionals who charge a ticket price for their events to ensure people come, and use their expertise to bring the right kind of people together. There’s nothing stopping you from starting something if you want to meet others. Check out our pages on organising for more information.
There is something organic about dining clubs, and belonging to one that resonates deeply and positively in our psyche. Meeting over food involves unspoken protocols and organizers naturally care about this. If social dining appeals to you then you'll find it is something you share with your fellow members, which is why you should join in.
